I set up the blogs on the site without any category fields for two reasons
1. I didn’t want to re-use the article categorys as I wanted searches using those not to include blogs which will generally be of lower quality
2. To streamline writing them as much as possible
I’m now re-thinking this as it would be nice to be able to list all blogs that deal with particular areas. But I’m not sure how to best do this keeping 1 and 2 in mind.

What I’m thinking is
A. Re-use the free tagging ‘Article Index’ field so that relevent blogs could also appear in that listing. I’m not that keen on this method for the reasons in 1 but it has some advantages
B. Create a new blog free-tagging category seperate from the article one. This however would be confusing particularly if the same tags were used in each and would require extra administration as such free tag lists are only sueful if everyone uses the same terms for the same content. eg they are pretty useless if one article on Barcelonia May Day’s is labelled ‘Spanish Revolution’ but another is labeled ‘Spanish Civil War’
C. Create a new fixed classification catagor for blogs which would eliminate repetition dangers and reduce ongoing administration but would be more restricted.
Any of the site bloggers any thoughts on this?

Article tag now activated for blogs
OK I’ve decided to experiement with activating the ‘article’ free tag on blogs. Make sure you read the rules on using this in the forum before adding tags. In addition only use it if you think the particular blog is either if huge interest to that area or is quite article like, we don’t for instance want a hight quality ndex of articles on the Captialist Crisis watered down by me adding that tag to my notes on my visit to Miami becase I mention the crisis at one point in the text.
It’s quite easy I think to reverse this so feel free to amke alternative suggestions as to who to deal with this issu
