Audio from Gleneagles G8 protests and launch of RAG 1

Cop cordon at G* protestThese audio files are 11 interviews conducted via mobile phone with Irish protesters at the Gleneagles G8 summit in June 2005 and an interview with Tobie about the launch of RAG 1, the publication of the Revolutionary Anarcho-Feminist Group.  I'm adding them to the blog as part of the process of re discovering old audio I recorded and archiving it, in these cases I'd forgotten recording these at all until the point where I was writing the other two blogs on the topic.

Audio 1: Interview with Tobie about launch of RAG 1 - October 13 2006
Very short (1.5 min) interview with a member of Revolutionary Anarcho-Feminist Group. She talks about the formation of the group and the Dublin and Cork launches of their magazine. It's a mp3 of 581.9 kibibytes at

Gleneagles G8 protest
There are 10 interviews in this sequence with four or more people over four days of the Gleneagles G8 protest.  All were done by mobile phone by me in Dublin  I'm going to explain how to do this in a tech blog post in the near future.  The times on each audio are the times I posted the linked audio to and not the recording times which in most cases would have been 15-30 minutes previously.

This is an interview with Finbarr (Dissent Ireland) who has been there for the last couple of weeks helping set stuff up.

Audio 3: Interview with Aidan on Dissent long bus as they board the Ferry -  Fri Jul 01, 2005 17:55
This was done just after 16.30 - talks about atmosphere on bus, the Galway bus being stoppped and his reasons for going. Unfortunately there is a fair bit of background noise but you can make it out. Its 2.5mb, around 3 mins

Audio 4: Interview with person as Dissent bus searched - Fri Jul 01, 2005 21:39
Describes search procedure etc, interview was finished at around 19.15 about to contact them again.

Audio 5: A little bit later -  Fri Jul 01, 2005 22:17
This segment is recorded a little bit later (ending at around 21.50 GMT just after the person in the first interview has been searched. In this segment he describes how the police confiscated a copy of the Irish anarchist magazine 'Red and Black Revolution'

Audio 6: Meanwhile in Edinburgh train Station - Fri Jul 01, 2005 23:26
Finbarr reports from Edinburgh train station before and after the arrival of the Dissent train from London. Describes what is happening in the station and the intensive police survellance going on all day. I finished recording this around 20 minutes ago. Everyone on the train was also photographed.

An interview with one of the Irish Dissent crowd who has just been harassed off the Make Poverty History march by some very personal attention from the MET. 300k

Interviews with WSM members which gives two different persepectives on the break up of the black bloc in Edinburgh. Includes reports of uses of batons and pepper spray by police. 620k

Interview with anarchist returning from the Make Poverty History march in Edinburgh today. He gives an overview of the day and in particular a very critical look at the black bloc action. Also talks of what happens next

Audio 11: These police are scum - July 04, 2005 15:59
Interview with two of a group of 7 people surrounded by 50 riot cops describing police tactics. Cuts straight in and straight out as the battery was running out on their mobile phone.
