Audio 1: Emmet O’Connor on Syndicalism in Ireland
“Although the years from 1917 to 1923 constitute one of the least neglected segments of labour’s chronology, syndicalism remains the most underestimated and misrepresented ideology ever associated with Irish trade unionism”
Emmet O’Connor is Senior Lecturer in History at Magee College, University of Ulster and author of Syndicalism in Ireland, 1917-1923 Cork University Press (January 1988)

The audio is an mp3 file, around one hour long and 12mb download from http://www.indymedia.ie/attachments/mar2007/emmet.mp3

Audio 2: Three speakers from Chile, Mexico and Spain on the rise of the left in Latin America
Speakers are followed by around 20 minutes of discussion giving about 1.05hrs and 15mb. File is mp3

Audio 3: Revolutionary Anarcha-Feminist Group on Class, Feminism and Revolution
Edited extracts from the Class, Feminism and Revolution recorded at this years Dublin anarchist bookfair. The meeting was organised by RAG (Revolutionary Anarcha-Feminist Group) and was based around a written text.
Because of the nature of the event (it broke up into workshops) and the recording equipment a lot of the recording was indistinct. I’ve salvage out the clearer sections and then passed these through some filters so I think there extracts are easy to hear. Apologies for contributions that were missed because I couldn’t salvage them. The audio is about 4mb and 25 minutes

Audio 4: WSM, ISN, eirigi – What Sort of Ireland Do We Want?
At the second Anarchist bookfair, Saturday 3rd March, speakers from Workers Solidarity Movement, Irish Socialist Network and Eirigi discussed the question ‘What Sort of Ireland Do We Want?’. These are the audio files of this debate.

Three talks are mp3 files, around 4mb each. Each talk is 15-20 minutes long.

Oisin for WSM http://www.indymedia.ie/attachments/mar2007/oisin.mp3
Daithi for eirigi http://www.indymedia.ie/attachments/mar2007/eirigi.mp3
Dan for ISN – http://www.indymedia.ie/attachments/mar2007/isn.mp3

Audio 5: Paul Bowman on Early Irish communist William Thompson
William Thompson was one of the of the first people to critically engage with political economy and attempt to turn it around to defend the improvement of the condition of the working class and rural poor. He was from a Anglo- Irish landowning family from West Cork and was to become a leading figure in the early Co-operative movement. In this talk from the anarchist bookfair Paul Bowman talks about the importance of Thompson and the relevance of his ideas today

Download is 9.1 mb MP3 file, just over 41 minutes in length.

I’m also going to put together a tech blog post talking about the different devices and methods I’ve used for audio recording in the last few years.  Keep meaning to get around to it but I’ve now got the bones of it written and will try and edit and get it up over the next days.
