Grangegorman eviction - Solidarity starts with a Fry

The reactions to the attempted evictions of the 27 people who occupied the long vacant Grangegorman complex here and elsewhere online has been interesting. On the ground at the gates people passing have been curious, and overwhelmingly positive. Some have brought down gifts including the pictured fry up from council workers at the depot nearby.

Irish Water meter installers continue to be frustrated in Dublin 7

Irish Water meter installers continue to be frustrated in Dublin 7 this morning (15 Dec 2014) in Avondale Ave, Montpelier hill and other locations. To add to the fun apparently the clampers have clamped some of the parked up Irish Water vans!

Because of the effectiveness of residents patrolling all the entrances to Stoneybatter they have taken to parking up their trucks at Topaz & Blackhorse Avenue in Cabra waiting for an opportunity to sneak in when people have to go to work or take breaks. Bottom right picture shows some of their crew hiding out near McKee Barracks as spotted by the Blackhorse Avenue page.

Irish Water chased out of Dublin 7

Water charge campaigners are celebrating after chasing Irish Water out of Great Wester Square in Phibsboro this morning (12 Dec 2014). This despite Garda resuming threatening people with the 20m exclusion zone injunction.

A large gang of visibly frustrated Irish Water personnel and Garda tried to prevent campaigners from disrupting installation but failed as campaigners repeatedly jumped barriers. Two campaigners reported being assaulted by Irish Water personnel, we are currently trying to obtain more details about this incident but it would be in line with what happened yesterday in Stoneybatter, another part of Dublin 7. Irish Water were also prevented entering Stoneybatter this morning, see earlier report on this page.

Cabra activists blockade bin truck

The Cabra/Dunard/Navan campaign activists had lobbied the Grangegorman depot Thursday morning and in solidarity with activists in Fingal decided to blockade one of the Cabra routes for one hour this morning (Sept 12 2003).

Bin tax protesters in Cabra blockade two trucks

As Fingal council took a High Court case against bin tax protesters this morning (Sept 17 2003) bin tax campaigners in Cabra blockaded two trucks in solidarity with Fingal campaigners. Our intention is to hold onto at least one of these two trucks all day.

Grange Gorman blockade successful in bin tax struggle

Last nights (Oct 1 2003) blockade of the Grange Gorman bin truck depot was a success with no truck managing to leave during the three-hour blockade. These were the trucks that were to do the rubbish pick-up in the shopping areas of the city centre.
